My review of Locked Up by GB Williams

Today is my stop on the blog tour for Locked Up by GB Williams!

BLOG TOUR (1)

A prison officer and a convicted killer must work together to solve a brutal murder and expose conspiracy inside a prison.  Ariadne Teddington is surrounded by people who lie but that is to be expected when you work in prison where every man claims to be innocent.  Charlie Bell, an ex Detective, now finds himself in that prison serving time for murder after having taken the law into his own hands.  When a fellow inmate is killed Charlie is asked to investigate the case from the inside. Soon Charlie finds himself working with Ariande but she is a guard, he is an inmate and some lines should never be crossed… Can two people on different sides of the law come together to solve the case? And do the answers lie closer to home than anyone ever imagined?

I really enjoyed this story and even from just reading the book’s blurb I knew it would be a book that is right up my street – I do love a good crime thriller!  I flew through the story and read it in an afternoon as I was really keen to see how it would end, I certainly wasn’t disappointed!  The descriptions of what it is like within prison are great and you do feel the isolation and difficulties faced by a prisoner like Charlie through his encounters and experience inside, it must be the worst feeling to find that you are in prison with people that you helped put behind bars.  The pace for the story is spot on and the main characters are strong and work well together to carry the plot along.  I found the book well thought through and the detail brought the scenes to life – 4 stars from me for this one and look forward to reading more from this author.
