‘Past events can be changed but one must be careful of how one does it because it’ll impact on the rest of one’s life.’–Dáire Quin, Modify your Destiny if you Must, 2003

The shimmering man stood in front of me all celestial-like. Heatless sparks illuminated the area around, but strangely not his face. I couldn’t see his face. He came forwards–no, he floated forwards–as I, still clutching the steering wheel of my crashed car, watched.

Julie Compton has her whole life ahead of her. Flourishing business and now a new boyfriend. Life is good. Really, really good. But on a dank winter’s evening, on the way to a business meeting her car came off the road and plunged into a tree–its branch pierced the window screen and impaled her to her seat.

Julie should be dead. But destiny had been travelling in the wrong direction for Julie. She doesn’t know it yet, but she must relive monumental moments from her past to knock it back on course. If she doesn’t succeed, as the celestial body said she must, she will die.

After reading the blurb for this book I was really keen to read it and see what the book was about and I am so pleased that I did!  I enjoyed the plot and the characters were genuinely likeable.

The book is really well written and as soon as I got in to the story it didn’t take me very long to read at all. I liked the combination of the different genres – the book covers modern day, science fiction, drama and romance, humour and the time-travelling aspect – normally with this many different things I wouldn’t expect it to work, but it does and I have given the book 4 stars!

The book is definitely one I’d recommend – give yourself a different read and the unexpected with this book!

A PROPER CHARLIE is a romantic comedy written purely for the chick lit market, but then she decided to unite her love of all things supernatural with romance and OH NO, I’VE FALLEN IN LOVE and WIDE AWAKE ASLEEP came along.

She loves hearing from her readers – the good, the bad and the ugly stuff they want to share!
