Barnabas Tew and the Case of the Missing Scarab

Barnabas Tew, a detective in Victorian London, is having a hard time making a name for himself, probably because most of his clients end up dead before he can solve their cases.

His luck is about to change, though, for better or worse: Anubis, the Egyptian god of the dead, notices him and calls him to the Egyptian underworld.

A terrible kidnapping has occurred; one that promises to put an end to the status quo and could perhaps even put an end to the entire world.

It is up to Barnabas (along with his trusty assistant, Wilfred) to discover the culprit and set things to right.

Can he turn his luck around and solve the most important case of his life?

This was a really fun book to read, it is really quirky and I loved the historical aspects – I have a passion for all things Egyptian from a young age and as anyone who follows my blog will know I am a massive fan of all things historical fiction and I love the Victorian period – I often think sometimes I was born in the wrong century!

This book was definitely going to be one for me with the crime aspect and I have to say that it was one of the most enjoyable stories I have read for a while!

I loved the plot for this, it was fun, made me giggle and was silly at times too – the characters were great and they really did make the story a special one.

The pace was spot on for the story and before I knew it I was over three quarters of the way through the book – very enjoyable!

Four stars from me for this one – I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it!
