1. When did you know that you wanted to be an author?

I loved writing from a young age, whether poetry or short stories, or whole books in my head. But the thought of being an author was during a career break. I had the time to write and wrote the draft of this book. Publishing was a much later idea.

2.  What inspired you to write this book?

I’ve always wanted to write a crime novel but police procedurals take a great deal of research. The solution was a non-conventional detective who has a background in policing. As I wrote the book, I came up with the idea that Julianna investigating for a charity, giving her limited powers compared to her days as a police officer.

3.  If you could sell this book in one sentence what would it be?

Murder takes seconds, revenge takes years.

4.  What are you up to next?

Book three – Julianna knows a juror on a trial and can’t resist getting involved when she suspects the defendant isn’t the murderer.

5.  Who is your biggest inspiration?

Many, many authors. If storytelling is the key to a successful novel, then Robert Goddard has that skill. He writes well-crafted books which don’t rely on thrills to keep you turning the pages.
